Well, I finally started on the bubbletop conversion today. It's been too cold to do it during the week, but it got up to 70 today.
I got everything cut out and the new roof rough cut in. The front pillars are welded in and I should have the rear welded in tomorrow.

Here's some pics...

Looking good , Brian!

I've been wondering where the best place would be to cut the top off. I've got
a 61 bubbletop that I'm parting out.

Thanks for all the compliments. I think I have done a fairly decent job for never having done body work or welded before.

I am currently updating my website with all of the pictures throughout the build so far. It may take a while before it is fully updated, I added the original photo as well for higher detail (just click on the bottom of the pic in the slideshow to view the original) Keep checking it out as I will update it as I do more. No new updates today, but I should have a good update by tuesday though.

Update....I laid out some filler and started to "smooth" the body. Starting to look real good after the first block sand and epoxy primer...I will be blocking again this week and hopefully have it finished by next weekend, if the weather is good enough to keep spraying the primer. After a short blocking session today, it looks as though 2 more will make it perfect. It's amazing what you think is straight and smooth, a block sand will tell you otherwise!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the great comments! I will keep pics coming as I progress.

Dan- I am going to use the 61 "vent" trim just below the window and the 62 SS trunk lid.

Progress so far. Car is streetable with plates! Have to buff out the aluminum and stainless trim and it will be done, besides some nic-nac items.

Roger- I will take you up on that offer real soon. I'm just afraid to take the car out now. I don't unsterstand.....I have been busting my rear for the past 18 months to get it to this point and I am afraid to drive it now! :dunno:scratch Well, I have a few things to get buttoned up tomorrow and hope to get it inspected tomorrow afternoon. Then off for the maiden voyage to Ronnie Russels house afterwards or sunday.
