I'm helping a friend with a poweglide to 4 speed swap in a 68 ElCamino. It has its original 327 and PG. My question is, would it have a 153 tooth flex plate or a 168? We would like to keep the existing starter arrangement.

Thanks

153 for a car application. Starter will have the bolt holes straight across. 168 will have staggered bolt holes on the starter. It's probably a 153. The only true way to know is to count. But if he's changing to a stick, a good idea is to install a high torque mini starter now. And then match a 168 flywheel with an 11 inch clutch. Do it once, do it right.
