Here’s a question for one of you smart people…… if you were to chrome aluminum…….does electrolysis take place between the plating and the aluminum……????
I can't remember what , but the aluminum has to be etched or plated in something before the copper will stick. And if the polisher buffs through the copper, it has to be stripped and the process started all over again. So I don't think there is any issues after properly chroming aluminum.

They look great Jim!!! why not just polish them?? when you chrome them really no one knows the difference between aluminum and steel just a question so don't shoot me
I wondered how a bumper would look polished. I'm not sure if the weld seams would look different than the aluminum base metal. The copper also helps smooth out the imperfections. If I ever make a set for my Bel Air (probably never happen), I thought about just sanding them with 320 on a da sander and running them like that. Sure wouldn't look as good as chrome though.
