Rough cut a couple pieces for the next bumper end. Used my plasma cutter for the first time on aluminum. Worked great for cutting smaller pieces from the 4'x8' sheet. Too bad I'm not that steady without a guide. But the band saw will trim it down nicely.
Well I was able to use just three pieces on this bumper end. Reduced the amount of welding and it came out practically identical to the first. Now to cut out a few wood patterns to make plasma cutting more accurate, neater and quicker.
It's fun work Bob. And these will keep my arm in shape. I've been using a couple different plastic body mallets. One from Harbor Freight and a more expensive one from Dagger Tools(I believe). The Harbor Freight mallet works much better for this project.
Oh there are things that I won't attempt for one reason or another. I try and take on projects that I am fairly confident that I can succeed at. There are much more talented people out there than I. And as they say it is only metal, you can cut it, weld it, shrink and stretch until it looks like what you want it to.
