ALWAYS bead blast used aluminum manifolds!
Getting the new 231 Buick V6 ready for my Sandrail, scored a rebuilt engine on the "cheap".
I did not want to use the single plane manifold that came with it, so I decided to use the Edelbrock that came with the buggy.
Cleaned it in the parts tank, then used some mag wheel cleaner too.
Pretty clean, but not good enough for a new engine, so I glass bead blasted it.
ONLY after Glass Bead blasting was I able to make out a hairline crack which extends into one of the intake ports!
It would have really annoyed me to melt a piston due to a lean cylinder caused by this crack. :
It will get welded up tomorrow, but this is a good reminder to never take short cuts. no1:
