Another newbie and new to all that is 409

Hi everyone. Well, here’s a bit about me and my newest passion:
I had a 63 biscayne wagon in HS (‘72’) as my first car. Our family’s main car originally until Dad upgraded. Plain Jane, 6 cyl, but I loved that car. Fast forward four plus decades and I recently bought a daily driver 63 Impala wagon. 283, 3 spd. With overdrive. It’s been lowered w/dropped spindles, but that’s really it. I decided to search for a 409 and found one. 340hp. It supposedly has 40K on it and was said to have come out of a 64 wagon. QG, so that makes sense. It’s headed to the machine shop in a couple weeks for a thourough inspection, cleanup and whatever else it may need. Not sure what I’ll do for a tranny, but all in good time I guess. I’ll probably drive you guys nuts with naive questions and rookie ideas, but what the heck. I’m just loving this!

Welcome! There are several wagon lovers here. Don't think fast, think reliable. My 64 Belair 9passenger wagon is an A/C car so pretty much heavier than every other car made back then. Not going to be real fast (434ci W motor with 690 heads and 881 dual quad). Unique fun is what we shoot for. Ask away!
