Anybody use a 4 row repro radiator from Classic Industries?

I was looking at aluminum radiators mostly for cost but then visualized it in my stock 348 powered 61. Don't think it would look too good even painted black.

Classic Industries has this reproduction 4 row copper and brass one for just under $400 shipped. Anybody used one? or have a better idea?

I have one in my 63 409 4speed and then one in each of my two 65's one with 409 other with 396 and never have had a problem. Sometimes online classic industries has there coupon for either 25 or 30% off if you spend a certain amount, the last one I bought with shipping was under 300 because of coupon.

I have a 4 row reproduction - 1962 409 Chevy radiator that looks like the originals.
It keeps my 327/300 HP factory air car at 180 degrees all day long.

I get my radiators from Show Cars -like this one for 59 to 63 originals ($369) :
http://www.show-cars.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=3932

I am fairly certain these Show Cars radiators are the best quality. There is a difference in quality of radiators.
I only buy 348/409 radiators when I know who makes them and how they are made ( I ask the seller ). All to make sure
the radiator will do the best cooling job on a 348/409 motor.
Show Cars sells to a number of companies - I am not sure on their radiators.

Most decent copper brass repop radiators come from US Radiator
They're local to me, I use to buy as a dealer from them years ago but they got squirrelly 15-20 years ago price wise(as a dealer)

I agree that the alum look shabby unless you're doing a custom car.

Did the factory shroud fit with the 4 row?
Thought my radiator was the original but it's dated May '60.
Car was built in April 1961. It's a 2 row. Did a 2 row ever come in a 348 car?

You should have a radiator shroud in your 348 that fits the 4 core radiator -it looks like the 409 fan shroud.
I have had original 2 row radiators as I recall in some of my 62's.

Find out if the new 4 core radiator comes with the 6 big square nuts - The pictures I see do not show them.
Here are the nuts to set shroud away from the radiator - you must have them on the radiator mounting holes or your shroud will
hit the radiator core.

You also need longer bolts to mount the shroud through the big nuts here are links to both of them.

^ this seems like a good way to go to me. I spent a LOT more on my radiator, had to pay to ship several back due to fitment issues and in the end, still didn't get one that fits. Had to modify the mounting flanges, redrill holes etc. A $188 aluminum eBay radiator seems like the best option

When I put the 409 in my '62, I bought an aluminum 2 row radiator from Auto City Classic. I cleaned it well and spray painted it a black egg shell. Has a nice sheen to it and I think it looks good. Like it belongs there, Carmine.

I'm going with the US Radiator copper core. I think the car warrants an original look.
Just found out today my workplace https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/ is a distributor.
Gotta get the part # to our buyer as soon as I decide.

What would've been stock in a '61 Turboglide car? A 3 row?
Did 4 rows come in production cars?

Here's my shroud, looks like it's made for a wider core.
Notched at the top to fit under the tank.

My original radiator, in my 64, was a 3 core. I believe 348's and 409's were all 3 core.

LowKat; I could be wrong, because picture's are deceiving.:dunno You may, have a small block Radiator and Fan Shroud, in your car.:doh

I knew the radiator, was wrong, but the fan blades don't appear, to be half in and half out of the shroud, like they should..:dunno2

I count the ribs on the fan shroud. The small block shroud has 2 full circle and one half circle ribs. The 348/409 shroud has only 1 full circle rib and the partial. The fan looks just a little deeper than normal in the shroud though. There is about 1 1/2 inches difference in the 2 shrouds.

I thought the shroud was a bit funny too Skip, not a small block, but longer than a 348/409 shroud.
