Some progress .. or what better way to spend a Saturday
bottomend.jpg

Gen 6 block - 4.375 stroke Malloy crank - 6.385 custom rods - 4 bolt
pistons.jpg

RaceTec custom blower pistons and ARP studs keep the heads down
heads.jpg

heads are on for setting up the yella terras - have to take them off to pin after I get the geometry right on the valve train. Heads are Edelbrock marine heads built for an offshore blower boat. 2.25 and 1.88
yellaterra.jpg

Keeping the custom blower lobs happy is a set of solid roller lifters and yella terra roller rockers.

Next after setting up the geometry and measuring for the push rods it all comes back apart for pining the rocker bases and then final assembly with the cometic head gaskets to keep everything dry. Good thing is no more studs and girdles to deal with.

took two years to get here and hopefully under two months to get everything back up and running.

Would surprise you ... most of the parts I bought over the last few years while the GF was healing up from her strokes.

Gen 6 block was 600 - paid with some computer labor
Heads a Edelbrock sq port marine performers -- rebuilt with blower exhaust valves 1500.00
Mallory Crank - Offshore going out of the racing business fire sale 250.00 < STEAL
Pistons racetec - desinged for heads and cam --- 725.00 < the guy who owned J&M owns this company, J&M wanted 1020.00 and 6-8 weeks deliverytime
Cam - Comp Blower cam - offshore dyno testing unit tests these for 10 hours and then sells them - 180.00
Rods Eagle 225
Labor and build 3750.00 again reduced with some work to 1011.00

Yup I scrounge dig and beg at times but that's not bad for an 850 + hp motor :-)

Yella Terra Roller rocker stands set, still need to drill and pin them this weekend, pushrod length set and ordered from Smith Brothers 13.05 each for 3/8 .120 wall ball end types. Next is take the heads off pin the stands and install the MLS gaskets and give the studs a round of torque .
Megasquirt 3 extra is somewhat ready, got an initial tune in the box from another EFI blower guy. Bought the TunerStudio MS with logger and self tuning after reading up on what seems to work the best and is supported mostly by Megasquirt.
John Deer Blitz black will be going on the engine area next week so maybe by end of March I will have it in..... still need a Bosch 044 pump and few other EFI parts but for now I have enough to do.
GF been rocking the Pink Eye for a week and if you think having it when you can see if bad try a pretty much blind person... they get's really really cranky!

Smith Brothers pushrods are here and they fit! Do yourself a favor and grab the comp cams length checkers that have a laser line and each turn is .050 and no locking nuts. Very handy! Went to John Deer and after they got me off the pedal tractors a gallon of Blitz Black came home with me.. I wonder :-) Seriously if there's a Santa he's got to get me one of those tractors!!
MLS Gaskets should be here Friday and the drill bits to do the pins. Grabbed a pin setter as well. Fat fingers, pins + hammer = PAIN. If I can have a Sunday I just might have a motor.

Engines in mock up stage finally. Fitting all of the accessories and blower belts etc. before the big day arrives. New TH 400 Full manual trans good for 850 hp with a matched converter will finally be unboxed and prepped as well. I know auto .. yuk! But least it's a full manual and I can save my leg some stresses. Got a bench seat from a Biscayne from a local guy in Idaho Falls and scored some vintage 70's Arthur Fulmer replacement seat covers. Brand new perfect condition 129.00 front and rear! Score!
Pics coming....

Had some issues with 8 port distribution block so I had to move the block and redo the lines to the injectors
Fuel system is ready to bolt in, driveline is set... Next comes the wiring and computer .....

Headers are now on fully using studs so this pics a bit dated. I used newer mounts and a 1/8 spacer which seems to help out with clearances. The new steering column is in and shaft now. More pics later on that. The hat has a filter in it now and the outside two holes are plugged up to make things a bit more street-able per the blower shop

Those tiny little lines take FOREVER to get together right! Right now it's wiring time! All new end to end so that should be fun!

Injector A uses purple wire with yellow stripe connected to pin 36 ... Hold greenish blue wire while twisting a tad orange wire and brown wire together ... solder here ... spray burns apply bandage .. repeat .. maybe by spring the radio will work at least...
Good news is I am down to wires and interior items! Front end will be bolted on this weekend ..

" When in doubt go back to what you know. "
EFI and me just did not get along. Maybe it's the fact that I work on remote data centers all over the country deploying thousands of servers and someone decided I needed a break from all the computer crap. All I know is it runs very well now and I am not looking back.
