Welcome aboard! Your car brings back some fond memories of my youth. My buddy Pete bought a '63 Impala SC with a small block 4 speed and a straight axle under it. We used to cruise in it and of course, drink some Millers,. The car would torque steer almost uncontrollably - if he nailed it, that front end would aim the car for the ditch. He got very good at controlling it. Don't know if it had any front shocks - who needs any stinking shocks. Anyways, you will enjoy it here.

Welcome, and just watch out for an old guy named Junky....

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Questions for you- Acc code M for 63-is that a Powerglide? Would the hole in the floor be the same for a PG and a 4 speed? Also how could you tell if the car was originally a 3 speed on the tree or a PG? Would there be remnants of a clutch pedal linkage under the dash, or a hole in the firewall? Just trying to confirm the PG is original to the car.
thanks in advance.

You could check the differential code, because the Glide has a different code than a standard transmission.

That body looks so good. Hope to see pics of your progress as well as info. Feel free to put my name on the title :pray

I thought I would share a cool find with you guys when I pulled the front apart. On the underside of the passenger fender written in orange was “409” from the the assembly plant. The car has not been repainted or apart. Probably to identify it as a 409 car so the fenders could be drilled for the 409 emblems. Check it out...

Hey guys. Started on body work this week. Going to be replacing part of drivers rear quarter, have welded up the tears on the upper rear quarters below the windows and have some new metal going in the drivers side roof below the drip edge. Making progress. Things should move pretty quick now at my buddies body shop! Next step will be body on the rotisserie and frame blasted, painted and all parts replaced and re plumbed.

Love that good old North American steel. Very little metal work required. She’s now in the booth tonight for black epoxy primer!

Looks great! you are making great progress. Are you still going to put the body on a rotisserie? I see the frame isn't done yet as mentioned before. My 63' has to be flipped and the frame will need replaced most likely. I may get a new frame and build it first so it will be ready to drop the body on. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! Yes after primer, we will be separating from the frame and putting the body on a rolling dolly. The frame will go on the rotisserie for blast and paint with epoxy, then it will come off the rotisserie and the body will go on the rotisserie for bottom paint and final paint. While that’s happening I’ll be building out the frame with all new suspension, lines and the rebuilt 409/425 and Super t-10 etc. then she’ll all go back together for fitting doors, front clip and hood.

Hey guys. I was able to takes some close up pics of the “409” written on the inside of my passenger fender. As mentioned before, this car has never been apart or repainted so interesting to see all the odd grease pen markings and numbers.
