It was the Summer of 67 and I used my 340HP 409 SS to flat tow my friends B Altered from Dover Drag Strip back to New York City. Stone, Woods Cooke and KS Pitman were the featured show for the day and were following us south when they were about to get on a non-commercial highway. The cops were always waiting for racers to make that mistake.
We told them to follow us as we we going most of the way they were (George Washington Bridge). When it came to the time to send them on their way they asked how far to our shop. It wasn't but a mile.
THEY FOLLOWED US RIGHT INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
They stopped right in front of our house with their cars on open trailers, all of the neighbors came out. They handed out photos answered questions and talked to our neighbors and friends like we knew them for years.
I still remember that till this day. Super WOW!!
