Seems that about ten years or so ago, the 300+MPH quarter mile speeds were deemed as being too fast to get them stopped on several tracks. Pomona being one of them. It's 2900 feet from starting line to sand pile. More recent tracks are around 4000 feet. Now, they're going as fast or a tad faster in 1000 feet than they did in the quarter. Wonder how the 1000 foot ET on a fueler correlates to a 1320 foot ET? My experiences at Pomona in Stock Eliminator is that the shut off area is very long, but these fuelers are going three times faster than we do. There's only one return road, it's at the very end. The hardest thing on the car is when a new driver doesn't know where the finish line is and stays in it for about 1800 feet.
