I bet there are not many that knew that you could get a 265 in ‘57.

I found out the hard way:).

Built an engine for the son of my boss. We pulled it out of his white 4 door, v8 3 speed. I ordered .060 over pistons, got the block bored, etc, at the chevy store we had our own vat, popped freeze plugs, removed cam bearings. I started to install the pistons, WWHHAAATTT? What’s wrong here. Did my checking and it was a factory 265!!! None of us knew, of course being 19 I knew everything:crazy

Went ahead with it, .060 over, 4 speed, 5:13, 2x4’s was a screamer!!
Lots of street fun with a grocery getter 4 door.
I believe 265 in 57 only with 3 speed manual ,had a buddy with a 57 PU with an original 265 also had a 3 speed :dunno

The suffix code for a 57 265 was a C[for the cars,I can't say for the trucks],and yes 3 speed manual only.I had one in my 57 210 until I finished wearing out,I went in with a 327.The C block after machining went into a 56 2 door wagon for NHRA Stock class due to it's superior oiling system.
