Only the " Monster Mash" 55 Chevy that he was involved with was supposedly crushed, all the others I think were sold off. Nice avatar by the way.I thought the Grump tended to chop his old cars to hide his 'secrets'.
Or is that just a myth?
The white camaro and red vet in the back ground look interesting.
The Camaro appears to be " Grumpy's Toy".
K/S would be a 250 horse 327 with a 4 speed. The 65 would be a better car because you could use the 461 heads instead of the 520/896 castings. Today, a killer car of that combo would get into the high 11's.
That's a true story.I think at one time Garlits credited Swingle with giving him the idea to slow down the sreering ratio in his first rear engine dragster to improve the hi speed handling.
yup, connie was a genius when he was sober...the last day I spent with him was at the gasparilla invasion in tampa...we were in my boat, a chris craft scorpion with 2 300hp evenrudes on a 21' boat...we filled the boat with 600 water balloons...connie was so wasted from the night before that when he started tossing balloons he fell out of my boat...such a shame he passed at such a young age...That's a true story.
