Correct 409 block color?

Hi folks.
I’m was about to paint a few engine parts today for my 409 before reassembly and noticed there’s two different colors (by Duplicolor) available at my local auto parts store. One is Chevy orange, the other is Chevy Orange-red. My block is a ‘64 going in a ‘63. I’ve tried to figure it out on my own, but can’t come up with the answer. This isn’t going to be a ‘correct’ car, but I’d like to be period correct on the motor color. Thanks.

Lol! Multiple things Don, manifolds wrong color, missing bolts and gaskets, red spark plugs, wrong filter, did I miss something? Lol. Just mocked it up to get bolt length. Oh and wrong bolts with lock washers

Lol! I’ve heard the Fram filters are a huge no no so I did that just to get everybody riled up! Don’t worry it’s only there to keep things clean not to filter the engine. I had it on the shelf from a box of parts I had from years past....

We just covered the oil filter opinions in a recent thread. I've run Fram for a very long time and have never had any issue. That said, I have never had one on a race motor either. I have also never bought their cheapest filter either. At least get a "Tough Guard" but they have better ones then that too. If you really want to impress us, go out and buy the AMSoil filter. AT $45 a piece, they are the good stuff.

Fram, always got a bad rap. There were, worse ones, out there.:doh A buddy and I, were working OT, one cold winter night.:thumbdown We came out, to go home. The temps were around 0 * He cleaned one side of the Impala's windshield, and I did the other. We sat in the car, to warm up the engine and heater.:clap After about 10 minutes, we heard a loud, weird sound, from under the engine. :doh We got out, and looked under and found out, his oil filter exploded, and oil was blowing all over the ground.:drop Luckily, he had all the tools, to make roadside repairs. He lived 50 miles away. We got the car jacked up, and I removed the oil filter. It was a LEE Filter. The whole one side was blown out, with the filter media hanging out. The media looked like rolled up toilet paper.:eek3 A fellow co-worker seen Bill's car jacked up, and asked if we needed any help.:clap He gave him a ride over to Central Ave. to NAPA, and he got a new Oil Filter, and a few Quarts of oil. After about 1/2 hour, we were on our way home. We couldn't, get the thought out of our mind, that toilet paper was in that filter.:thumbdown
