I started riding when I was 12. Dirt / trail riding. Early 60’s. Moved up to street riding as soon as I got my license. Snuck out a lot before.
T-boned a car on the highway in 68. Woman pulled out in front of me. I laid the bike down just before impact. Bike was wedged under car. I hit the car & bounced off. Knocked me unconscious. Woman drove over my bike & fled scene. Left me for dead. I ended up in hospital, paralyzed. After a lot of therapy & a spinal tap, I got my legs back.
Got my bike fixed & went back to riding. Still riding.
Built a Harley chopper in 73. Started with a set of 57 panhead cases. Ruff way to go.
Not a lot of aftermarket parts available back then. That bike has a lot of history. Still have it. Ride it sometimes too. Kick start. 11:1 high dome pistons & a Andrews solid lifter camshaft.
Most of the time I ride my Ultra. That button spoiled me. Kinda like relaxing in my recliner, only better scenery.
Live to ride / ride to live.
