Dan Gurney Impala

Looking for some help/ information about the Dan Gurney Impala.

Does anyone know what exhaust manifold or headers it had? Was it stock cast iron manifold or tubular headers?

Also, does anyone know for sure the size of the wheels? We know they were 15", but it's the rim width we need. They seem to look much wider than 5"

Any info would be much appreciated.

There is an article in the Feb 1962 Hot Rod Magazine about the Gurney car. Says exhaust manifolds were replaced with headers.
Car came with the "Police and Taxicab " suspension option. Original tire size was 7.60 x 15 but no wheel width given. Had problems with wheel breaking so replaced them with NASCAR type reinforce racing wheels.

The GM Heritage site (1962) lists the factory taxi cab option of having 15 x 5 wheels and 6.70 x 15 tires. The police car equipment lists 15 x 5 1/2 wheels with 6.70 x 15 tires.

Fantastic...will try to track down the article. We are trying to get race papers for the car and we just have these 2 hurdles to cross! Many thanks
