Well I think I was able to sneak up on it. 1/2 turn out in rear carb, 1/2 turn in on the front Idle crews. Repeat until I am on the idle circuit in the rear and dropped 50 rpm at idle. So far so good. Not sure I canget down any lower and dont think I want to . So far it hasnt dieseled 9 out of 10 times. if I try and go lower than 20 degrees at idle I will have to start cracking the idle screws open. May just leave it where it is and wait until I hear from the guy who has a broke down Sun machine.
when it comes to step up springs what color are the lightest ? I cant find my Carter sheets. Orange is whats in the car now.

Now that you have your transfer slots covered and are now running only off the idle circuits,I don't know if I would mess with the step up if your satisfied with the transition to power.

It feels about right so not going to play with the step ups. Runs cool. Runs strong. If anything I amgoing to try and slowly drop timing and turn i idle screw a little at a time and see where it goes. Or not !

In my back in the day experience “if” you check the distributor on a Sun machine double check the advance rate you want those springs as stuff changes. I agree if it feels right and smells right for street driving leave it.
