Engine ID Help

Hi Guys,
Just picked up a '61 Biscayne over the weekend. It was originally a 6 cyl car, but now has a W engine. I was told it was a truck 409, but I think it's a 348. It has a 409 oil pan with passenger side dipstick. Casting #3857655 which I believe is 348 truck. The stamp on the front pad reads: T0603XB. Anyone seen this suffix code before? Thanks for your help.

Never seen an "XB" suffix, could be an industrial application? They were used for things like irrigation pumps, etc.

The 655 castings are generally from 1964-5 and yours was assembled on June 3rd probably in 1964?

Those 655 castings are among the more desirable 348 blocks to many, they have the ArmaSteel caps and I suspect improved webbing, etc.
