409 looks like this. This is a 63. Narrower than small block. Edit....Didn't see about 65.

The 65 409 shroud is entirely different than the early shroud It Is truely about 1 1/2" wide. Same as a 396

Would the 396 and 409 shrouds interchange? Is 65 a one year only or will the 65-70 big block shrouds work?

I think you’re right Don shroud for 65 409/396 are listed as the same, frame didn’t change for a few years, not quite sure about 69/70 but I bet they might

First 2 are my 409 the 3rd is 396 , don't mind the missing clutch fan and correct fan as it's a work in progress

Depending on which one you want, there are quite a few suppliers.

Just google 1965 impala big block fan shroud several come up for different places. Just scroll around to find the right one.
