First lathe

When I got the lathe I found a nice rolling steel desk sort-of thing on CL to mount it on. I'm going to put short hooks on the front edge of the desk below the lathe for each tool: the big key, 3/8", 1/2" and 13/16" wrenches used to make adjustments, and the key for the tailstock chuck. Then I should be able to scan the hooks easily each time to account for them before I hit the start switch. It's too easy to set the wrenches somewhere harder to see and hard to find them when needed.

Lots of good books out there on lathe and other tool use. I picked up Machine Tool Practices cheap. I hope to retire in 5 years or so and have time to really get into it.

Merry Christmas.
