Yeah tightened it down but to where you could still spin hub and then back off ,then spin and Snug it to get freeplay out. I don't think I was setting the pre-load right .I didn't leave it tight .

You do need to spin them and snug at the same time to work the grease out.
It is a touch or luck kind of thing.
With a taper wheel bearing you want 0 to very little play.
If you are use to ball bearing that is different as you want some play.
