It turns fine except for one spot where there’s resistance but it doesn’t stop. I checked and it moves up and down and loose in the hole

Sounds like he has what he needs.

For future reference, my 348 also had the SBC drive rod in it (uses SBC style pump, but a longer drive rod - check this before you start it - yikes) and the priming tool for the W is way different than the other Chevys of the era and wrong one won’t oil the top end (on the passenger side if I recall correctly) as others have mentioned.

Many discussions on the priming issue. It seems the only true way to prime the motor (348-409) is with a modified w-distributor. I have not not tried the one sent to me yet, but looking forward to testing it. If I see both sides of the upper rockers getting oil, I am gold. The older 409 truck distributors were not considered usable in car blocks, and made good prime pumps for testing the oil path.
