Grandfather's Clock

A young family inherited a very old, very tall and very beautiful grandfather clock and when they got it home, they set the time and tried to get it to run again. They moved the long brass pendulum to the left, let go of it, it moved, made a loud TICK but stopped mid path, wouldn't go TOCK, and wouldn't continue. They found a clock repair shop in town with an old German clock smith, noted for his Old World craftsmanship and his attention to details. They brought it into his shop and explained to him the problem. He looked at it, smiled and said, Veddy good, ve fix!". The young couple left, his crew came out and they carefully carried the clock into the back room and stood it up, and tried it out with the same results- TICK but no TOCK. The atmosphere got very serious, as the four men surrounded the clock, and the older man stared hard at it and said, "So you no TOCK! Vell, ve have vays to make you TOCK"!!
