These eggs aren't going to make it. When the water was down she was only 6" above water level. It rained a little and it won't be long before she's flooded out. Lots of times young ones nesting for the first time make this mistake. It's early enough that she will nest again, maybe even somewhere higher. The wood ducks around here are looking hard for hollow trees to nest in now. While having coffee this morning I bet there were 4-5 pair scoping out trees in the back yard. I put the bluebird housesIMG_20200414_144003748.jpg up a couple of weeks ago and have a pair nesting in one. Wrens and Oreoles will be back in a week or two.

We talked about that this morning Tom. I've had 4 on another guys pond for over 40 years plus 3 at my old house. A tip for anyone with wood duck houses is to put a piece of roofing steel on the top. I also used a light steel plate at the back to hang them from. They last forever then.
