That's bad Tom. But I've seen so many aluminum intakes at swap meets that have been sand blasted or glass beaded just to make them purdy and the lower tin NEVER REMOVED!!!!!!!!

Tom, is that a crack in the bottom of that intake or just a shadow caused by the casting??

The same with aluminum valve covers that have oil fill and pcv baffles in them.

You are correct in that is one big ol' crack on the bottom of the intake.

Lots of grunge and then the crack, it just doesn't get much worse!

The tin was pretty corroded as well. The best parts are the rivets .

A little JBWeld, and it will be good as new.

Depending on your needs, that crack can be welded without too much difficulty. Stop-drill the ends of the crack, then "V" the entire crack. Heat up the entire manifold then silicone-bronze weld it.

Like James noted, it's a future "mail box" intake . Was a fairly common small port 250 horse 348 intake. I have others...

You should see my buddies mailbox,a 270 Dodge Red Ram baby Hemi with a gutted 6-71 case with fabricated fake drive and mailbox for the injector scoop.If I remember I'll take a pic of it next time I'm over there.
