Hey guys, I have the melling pump, that came with my kit, do you think I should go ahead and order a high volume pump from s.c.'s...... just a hair over stock build on the 409....
Thanks, Steve

You can buy the high volume pump at your local parts supplier.... Melling M55HV

Depends on oil clearances at the crankshaft. If you're under .002", I'd recommend a stock oil pump.

I used an M55HV on my 348 build, and I found the Sealed Power #2241146 pickup didn't work real well, due to the deeper body of the HV pump. Someone may be able to recommend a different pickup to use. I reworked mine a bit, where it still isn't perfectly parallel to the pan-floor but the clearance ranges from about 1/4" to 1/2", so it should be fine.

I think the pickup should not be parallel to the pan bottom according to the service manual.
