Hood hinge ?

My hood will not go down even with the fender in the rear by the cowl. I can push it down even, but when I let go it comes back up above the fender. I can remember pushing down the 60s chevy hood at the rear corners even when they were new. I used to be able to push mine down and it would stay, it will not stay down now. I have the bracket adjusted all the way down on the firewall. Seems like this problem started after I lubed the hinge. Maybe my hinges are worn out?

I did a search on this problem and found a few tips. I.ll try and raise the hinge as Fred Totten said.

If you raise the front of the hinge, the back will lower. Seems odd as you would think lowering the front and back would lower the hood, but it doesn't work like that..

Yep, I raised the front and the back dropped to an acceptable level. Not perfect but ok.
