What about bumper bracing? If you aren't worried about the safety side of the bumpers, you may be able to remove some bracing and/or modify the bracing to drop some weight there and still look the same from the outside.

I looked at those Don. Wondered what they looked like in real life or if folks painted them. The pics on the websites didn't show me much.
