I know this wont count but a stock bore stock stroke 409 with street manners one seat 62 Bel Air open exhaust best 12.23 @107
La Hot Rods thats where I want to run...... wonder how much more $$$$$ it will take. Going to the Dyno Man soon.
If you check the build on this car you will see that there isn't much money in it.....just a bunch of used parts.

So far I’d say Dave mills had the fastest. Mine has gone 11.15 in street trim with slicks and open headers 3970lbs
His bel air bubble top was street driven when he ran 10.41
Was that with a 409?
Yes James, it was the same short block that is now in the Chevy II , and the heads and intake that I sold to Grub at the end of the Great Bend race. Belair weighed 3720 and seen about 1000 or a little more miles a year on the street. Has a much milder 409 now.
So was that 409 cubic inches?

Geez..... Factory block 4.375 bore, 3.76 stroke = 452 c.i. Factory iron #583 heads (ported) dual quad afb carbs. Looks like a W to me. Best of 10.41 @ 128 mph 1.42 60 ft. at 3720 lb.
Now James, is the salt shaker engine a stock bore and stroke that actually measures 409 c.i. ? How many street miles does the shaker drive per year?
Well, the engine that is in the car now is 460 cid. This engine seen 12000 miles on the street. 11.33 best time with no track tuned by leadfoot.

The engine I blew up at Bowling Green last year was a true 409 cu. in. Best time 11.86 @ 112.78. The only thing not stock was the
RW intake manifold and a Crane cam.

My street driven full interior, radio and heater stock stroke dual quad .030 overbore 409 went a best of 12.20. 4250 lbs.
Yes that's true. The pistons were 10.5 Ross with a truck block were in the 10.0 range. Cam was smallish. I was surprised it ran that good. Others were predicting low 13's. Ronnie Russell predicted 12.80. There's still a thread on here somewhere when I was building the engine with all the comments.
