How to remove a dog dish cap without damage?

I don't know where I would go for good help other than here.

Some of the original GM wheel wrenches had a bit of a hook on the end for cap removal. I have a short thin piece of wood for the edge of the rim and a very long wide flat screwdriver.

I have two or three of these original jack handles with a curved end on them to remove the small hubcaps

I prefer to use my fingers to pop them off but when / if that fails I use a cotter key removal tool and red rags for padding the painted wheel. Most of the time my fingers work but it is getting harder as time marches on

I have a set of nylon tools (10) that I got from our tool guy. Probably made for interior panel removal . All different shapes and sizes.
It's a chore to remove them, but so far , no damage

Aw come on Bob, what good are dog dish caps without a little patina. I hear patina is all the latest fad

I know if you combine Harley parts and the word patina in a Ebay add its guaranteed to add dollars to the part.
