Deer hunters shot this 400# black bear about an hour north of me near Cresco, Iowa. Once in a great while you hear of one passing through NE Iowa. Not illegal to shoot one, but I'd bet it will be next year.

I've had it years ago at wild game feeds. It's really red meat.
I thought it tasted like bear......
When I was a young kid, we had an Italian man, around the corner.
He raised chickens, for food. We used to watch him, cut their heads off.
He would be playing Italian Music. Oh Solo Mio.
Wham, there goes the head.
They would run around for 20 seconds, with blood squirting out, of their neck.
We never hung around long enough, to see him pull off the feathers.

I'm not anti hunting but why shoot that bear? Same goes for exotic big game in Africa
If it is feeding someone I'm okay with it, or if it is a threat to someone.
When I was in the 4th grade, my step dad would say, go get a chicken for dinner. You either wrung their heads off, or cut them off, but you got dinner from out in the yard. We would buy them as chicks and raise them just big enough to eat. I always wanted to have egg laying ones, but even if it was possible, they were eaten before they had a chance.
