A special generation..... at a special time in the world.....You couldn’t write a better story about good versus evil .......unfortunately blood was the cost..... brave, brave, brave men..........:salute........:idea:ty:goodpost

Incredible to see how the Germans had supply lines and the big howitzers trained at strategic locations during the invasion......And these locations are revealed on this Josh gates show....My understanding on those positions, locations and their capabilities are a new find...... so the actual Normandy invasion was even more lethal than what previously thought.....if that’s even possible

Fellow locally had a writeup in the paper today, he flew 60 bomber missions in WW2, he is now 99. He flew the first d day mission to take out a huge gun that fired 21 miles into the channel. Also bombed Dresden, said the ground was all white from the incendiary bombs.
He said some of the barges offloading soldiers could only get in to within 6 ft depth, a lot of soldiers drowned before hitting the beach. He was a tail gunner and they would bomb the Germans on the beaches and he would strafe them.
