I don't think "Old Reliable" can be put in the same class as Hanks car. While Hanks car is a super nice restoration, it was mostly a Back up car for Ronnie Sox. If that 300k bid was real (and it very well wasnt) I think he missed the boat by not letting it go.
BTW....After its drag racing career was over Hanks car sat behind our local Chevrolet dealers body shop for a while then a neighbor down the road from me bought it and put a 327 in it and street drove the car before selling to some people from NY. Just my opinion which means nothing :D

I'm surprised.....But at the same time, I realize that I'm very biased. ..These cars, while rare and very collectible, do not have the appeal I think we on the forum build into them. Younger collectors with the money to buy theses cars do not share any history with the 409, or at least not much. The older guys are winding down and are divesting and down sizing into a market that I think is dwindling and moving to other or more contemporary cars/

I know that I will NEVER break even on my current project, but that's not why I do it. I'm 25 years too late into the hobby, but I want a piece of this history. I do love these Z-11's
