I don't know about the magazine but there is a 2 page article (might be a reprint of the article that you are referring too) in the book Extreme Muscle Cars. This book shows a up close photo of the 64 Chevelle.

Does anyone know what ever happened to this car? I know the '64 became the dark blue AWB car in '65. I wonder what ever happened to it?

New mag today

I think it was Pop Hotroding. Has a nice pic of the Dick Harrell Chevelle Z-11 car racing a Thunderbolt. The article was all about T-bolts and such. Just happened to have one lined up against a Chevy 427. I will try and scan it when I get home.

Notice the words "GOOD GUYS" on Harrells fender

these were some great cool racers and mechaincs from the Carsbad area

Good Guys included;

Marvin Sutherlin (who just recently passed)
Buddy Rice,
Larry Morrison ("Parts" on the 348 409 forum),
Jim Elgin,
Kelly,
Gary Wise,
Ray Brooks,
Bill Allen,
Dick Harrell( deceased)
Mackey Medley
Carl Goetz (deceased)
Tommy McNeely

It was one of the first 1964 Chevelles on the race scene

any others Larry?

My friend Billy Franklin owned the car about 10 or 12 years ago. You could pick up the front end without the motor in it. It was bracket raced at Bristol in TN about nine years ago and it reportedly got crushed in a junk yard. It was a most intersting car. Jeff
