I time long ago..... :bang

I bought my 1st 409 something like more than 12 years ago at an auction. Went there KNOWING I was buying it. Disassembled truck block with 348 heads and a tri power and air cleaner. $450:dance

I knew I wanted a 65 Biscayne for it. 1st year for the 4 link 12 bolt rear and parimeter frame and last year for the 09. I bought this.65 biscayne old.jpg

Drove it had fun and made this. 4 speed 396 just because I had the parts, sorta65 biscayne tricks.jpg

All the while there where hospitals, surguries, illnesses, band and choir for the kids. It was a slow going project. Some where in there I was trying to finish this. http://www.348-409.com/forum/index.php?threads/flow-bench-still-working-on-it.4816/
I started the 409 building process in 2009. With a number of stumbles (life). I pushed on.

and this one is just a teaser. I got tired of dealing with stuff last year and set the parts together just to look at it. Kinda setting in your car and making engine sounds.:D

Well I have My 1st head done. Got what I was wanting - 10% increase. All 4 intake ports are VERY close to each other. The exhaust is a little off? Any way check this out.

This one is kinda cool. Shows how close each ported intake runner is to being the same. I guess that means I didn't do to bad of a job.
At least I didn't screw my heads up..... yet :D:dance

I didn't get the exhaust quit as good. The center 2 ports are tuff. But I did get an increase. At least the 2 out side follow and the 2 inside follow.
I just hope I can make some good power with this thing. :crazy

I'll be making headers too. I keep thinking about making an intake. If I keep going, this thing should finally run this year.:D

got my heads back from the machine shop last week. have a valve job done and flowed one hole on there bench to see how close my bench is. Intake looks really good. I think i can make the exhaust work a little better by plugging some hole, but stil not to bad. I 'm happy with the results. These 2 charts show my final heads after MM compation engines did the valve work compaired to others.
