My 61 impala Sedan

I thought I would show what I'm working on. It's not going to be your typical (original) 61 impala sedan.

Here is how I purchased it a couple years ago.

Here I've removed all the paint down to bare metal.

It's now gone to the painter and I should get the body back in a couple of weeks.
Here is a Photoshop file what what I'm aiming at.

It's going to have a 409, turbo 350 trans, bucket seats.

I like it! It really looks rust free in all the right places.

That "flat top" design on the Impala trim package looks great together. Very unique.

Is the body about to come off or are you planning on a "body on" restoration?

What process did you use to remove all that paint?

I think it would look good with buckets from the early 60s.

Tell us more about that 409 that you are installing.

Have fun with your project and ask questions if you have them. Lots of collective experience on board here!

Cheers!

Thanks a lot guys, it's probably not for everyone, but I'm building it the way I want it.

Tom K - Yes it was very rust free car and it's a body on restoration.
- I ground the paint off with a lot of 2" disks and an electric drill.
- Yes it will have buckets from the sixties. Maybe a set of 1963 Impala buckets, if I can find them.

The car came with a 283 and Turbo Glide.
Here's what is going in, again not your typical colour, Black and Cast colour and my own design 409 stickers.
