My 61 has a 605 power steering box and a power steering pump that howls under load when hot. The car has a 409 so its not stock. when I go to buy a replacement pump is there a part number to make sure I get the same one? I see some posts where the pump has a different bracket mounting or the hoses have different couplings . Thanks

I'm using just a stock big block pump but don't have numbers handy. Got from napa. Sure others have them also. I'll see if I can find number. Believe it is from a late 70's early 80's.

I rebuilt my 61 pump about 12 months ago, I used a kit for our local Holden pump but the shaft seal was incorrect, I went to an SKF bearing sale office and bought a single seal for about $3.00.

I will stand corrected, but feel all these types of pumps from the early 60's through to the early 80's are basically the same design but with varying tin housings and inlet/outlet locations, this is based on our local Ford, GM and Chrysler products.
