Well, weve had a 64 impala for a bit and were itchin to take a shot at "thompsonizing" it, although to a mere 8 in Brians 10 scale. The car looks ok on paper but is a greasy mess and has a need for floor pans, engine overhaul, engine bay work, interior and the list goes on. So, me Avery, and Alex started to tackle this project a few days ago. Currently it has a 327 and was an automatic but converted to a 4sp. Heres a few before pics...

:roll

Its me and the kids, Alex17 , Avery12, Cameron 9, and Hannah 8, and our shop cat. So about 2.5 people hahahaha. I think well hit the wall when we start the welding on the floor pans. Were not going to cheap out and plug with overlap, were going to try butt welding two full pans and the back seat. Ill post some photos tomorrow....

:clapGood progress. Hey Bob I have worked with these guys a couple of week ends and if you had his crew you would know how they get that much done. They even have another project being delivered in a day or two.

Dave, your right, sorry a little behind on the post. Ill update it here on the thread for the other folks, but all in all we have just a few things left. First issue is to figure out a starter problem. I was getting some ping on 93/110 mix 2/3rd 93 and was going back to square one by putting back in the stock springs in the distributor. Made a rookie mistake by popping out the distributer and had to reset everything back to TDC and 0deg. Unfortunately, was too retarded and the kick back broke the starter (DC Elec mini). Just received the new one and will throw it in and give it a shot. Ill post this and the other areas I still have to work out on the build thread.

As for dyno, waited 8 weeks and still couldnt get on the superflo because the only guy around with it had race motors that took priority. So, we were itchin to go and threw it in....

Also, love the child labor!

I think it's very very cool that the pit crew is as interested as they are.......... Kurt (and Mrs. Kurt), you have done a great job raising those kids. I know it has nothing to do with what they are interested in but their work ethic is awsume !!!!!!!! Most young people today wouldn't put in the time your crew has been doing............ espesially on the dirty long drawn out boreing jobs.

To the pit crew !!! :beer:beer:bow

Thank you sir, but you have to realize they "unionized" and while ago :D

Avery and Alex are happy when payday comes around. Heres todays tally sheet, its aint pretty but effective :roll. The little ones get $2 per hr and run strait to the store and burn through it. The bigger boys $5 and $7 and both want to save for their own project cars. Their kinda kickin around a business idea.....

Progress today... We got our base down and a few coats of clear. I didnt want to to go gloss on the skirts but painted them with SEM and you cant even touch them without a marr mark. The hood came our very good, Avery and Ale spent a ton of time sanding and ultimately its a heck of a good job. Tomorrow we will throw back in the motor and tranny, then build up around it.I posted a couple shots of the Belvidere. My uncles car, and he needs it cleaned up to sell....Were probably at a minimum popping the engine to add new gaskets all around, doing the bay, undersides, a basic freshen up...

Question, do you guys put the skirts on the fenders then bolt on as one piece, or skirts after?
