New Big Block Head

James, I done some research on my blower heads that were on my 69 C10 short bed. They are a set of out-of-the-box Dart 360 aluminum 26 degree cylinder heads. They have a raised exhaust Port of .750 . At 700 inches of lift the intakes flowed 427 with a 2.250 intake valve. And exhaust was 310 with a 1.900 exh valve. I had 3000.00 in them. Randy Richards put them on is flow bench and cleaned up the bowls and the runners and worked on them for a week . Had to put liners in the holes for some of the head studs because they were cleaned out so much . On Jeff's camaro with a 512 they went 8.00's at 160 mph. I had a blower on my truck though. His was normally aspirated with a dominator single carb intake. Wished I could of taken it to the track! But the required safety equipment fire suit Etc would have been a massive expanse. Love the street LOL
The ZL1 factory GM heads on my 68 Chevy 2 had a factory volume of 320 on the intake runners. I know they have been massaged. Should have had themflowed. I guess in my old beater Nova (street driven) it's not all that important. Sure is a lot of fun though. I've seen these castings on the internet for crazy high numbers. And they are date coded March 69 an April 69. Probably worth more than the car LOL.
The casting number for the ZL1 is 3946074, I was lucky to find some good old GM Winters Foundry heads. And they were affordable. Even though I had to have one exhaust stud boss fixed. I'm sure somebody out there is looking for a set of these heads for a clone or restored car. Maybe somebody will offer me a pair of these new heads for a trade! I know the last ZL1 Camaro sold on Barrett for a half a million. But I plan on running the hell out of them for now. You know me! Interesting article though funny how technology changes.

I'm sure that if they cut the length of the intake guide down in the bowl that it would flow even more, but not sure if the heads are finished the way they look or if they do that before
assembly. :dunno they do look massive, but I understand they're $10,000 a pair. If you can get them. :juggle Right now I'm happy with the Bob Walla heads that I bought... Z-12's are awsome though, someday when I get old and retired and have a lot of money hopefully you can buy a complete z12 crate motor to bolt in, then you can find the weak Link in your drivetrain and break some crap! (Not the motor though).:overheat:zombie
