New ride

WELL, was making progress and then another small set back. The car came with some Strange coilovers with 130lb. springs that had seen better days. I just happen to have a pair of new QA1 shocks with 130lb. Springs that i had bought for another car a long time ago. I thought maybe the springs were a little soft so i bought some 150lb. QA1 springs for it. Put em on the car yesterday and while setting shock ride height at 15 1/2” saw that the spanner was within 3 threads from the bottom. So off with the shocks and back on with the 130lb. springs. Now the spanner is about 10 threads from the bottom. Put car on the ground, “first time in over 2 months” and noticed right side is 2” higher than left side.:wtf2 Start measuring and after an hour of dammit, dammit i get back under it and measure the one thing I hadn’t, the compressed length of the springs. The right measured 10 1/2” and the left measured 10” these are 14” springs to start with. My first thought was i put one of the 150lb. springs back on it. I think mis labled springs.? What say you.?F2050D0D-1C72-4919-B281-C40E2D9BB944.jpeg4C7B4A8B-FEC9-44AC-B2AA-956718379B5C.jpeg6DA655DF-6ABE-45C7-8666-3D8C8C00353E.jpeg6E0072C4-C150-4FDB-9D78-285B9F7B55B3.jpegF2050D0D-1C72-4919-B281-C40E2D9BB944.jpeg4C7B4A8B-FEC9-44AC-B2AA-956718379B5C.jpeg6DA655DF-6ABE-45C7-8666-3D8C8C00353E.jpeg6E0072C4-C150-4FDB-9D78-285B9F7B55B3.jpeg

Got a problem here. I bought showcars tubular a-arm kit so that i could get more caster, 4-5 degrees. When i got these i found that there were no weight savings so for now i just installed the uppers. Did this while motor was in it for mock up. Then pulled motor. Now six weeks later and motor is back in lowered car on the ground and now ive got a ton of neg. camber. So i decided yesterday i might need to put the lowers on to see what the camber looks like. Then i find out I’ve got two pas. side lowers. “Hit the brakes” so i send pictures to showcars and now im waiting for someone to maybe call me back. Any ideas. Thanks, BT

Looks like the upper control arms are on the frame bumpers? If there was more weight on the front end, as the upper control arm was closer to level, this should give more positive camber. If the car is close to normal ride height, would upper ball joint spacers help? The end of the upper control arm would be up higher and should give more positive camber, not sure how much though. Just thinking out loud.

You could also use the Howe-style long-stud upper ball joints. I think the 22304 with a 1.5" over stud might be the one, but better check closely.

Yes, i forgot to add that when i got the car it did not have neg. camber. Also it ha two inch drop spindles. Lots of verables. I did change springs though. I cut one coil off which should have lowered the car two inches. It looks as though the car has about the same ride hight as when i got it. And thanks for the help so far everybody. Still haven’t herd from Bob at Showcars.:dunno

Went out andlooked at old springs to remember why i changed them. They were not for these cars. They were a 1/4 inch smaller around than a spring for our cars so they did not sit in the spring pockets like they shoud.

Looking at first pictures it looks like it was lower in front. You have changed springs as you mentioned ,that is the difference. I take back my a arm causing the problem. Once you get clip on it might change a little on negative camber ,won't know till you try it.

Put the stock a-frames back on and got it back to where it was. I’m gonna let the front end man align it the best he can and I’ll just have to drive it.
