Lucas in Wheatland wanted a NHRA national event scheduled there and build a track, NHRA turn them down do to lack of hotels to support the event! One of the guys that is partners with heartland park Topeka is from Columbia. The airport on the north side of the race track is wanting to expand the airport in heartland Park. The track is partially state owned and is the only place you can buy alcohol on Sunday. They have an ordinance but have waived it at the track.
This would be cool if it really happens, only about an hour away from Columbia.
