Happy Sunday!

1961 283 manifold on 1979 or so 350 block.

Venting the crankcase? Not happening now. Aftermarket A/C bracketry would greatly inhibit simple removal of passenger side valve cover.
A mate mentioned a specific type of "whatever you call that tube that has the filler cap on it". ''Vent tube"? Or, would using only one valve cover with a PCV do the trick?

Suggestions appreciated.

Where might one obtain such a thing? Would it be available through a local part supplier, or more difficult to find than that?

Says it's for a 409, and I'm 59 cubic inched shy of that - just an SBC. Will it work? Remember, the intake is stock 1961 for a 283.

Thanks

S O T: Go online to Eckler's Late Great Chevy. 564046 58-64 Oil Filler Tube w/ spring bracket $ 20.00 - 563145 58-64 Oil Filler Cap $ 26.00 This is your easiest way out.:) A set of valve covers with breathers couldn't hurt either. Skip:)

Thanks - that sounds great - Would there be a distinct advantage to venting the valve covers as well? Why would that be necessary, if the oil filler tube is connected to the back of the carb?

What about just ONE of the valve covers (the a/c compressor is in the way on one bank)?

S.O.T: This oil filler tube, does not have a vent tube on it. It was made to vent the engine through the oil cap(breather). If you are using a vacuum advance distributor, hook the vacuum line up, to the back of the carburetor. Yes, one valve cover, with a breather will be ok. It might not be needed, but it can't hurt. Skip:)
