We'd have to build, a lot more Indian Reservations.:doh How.

There should be no Indian reservations or casinos. We cannot change the past, they were not here first. It's 2019, almost 2020. People should get and education, get a job, work hard and stop looking for handouts for something they never had happen to them.

Jeff, I agree about those graphs. The fact about being debt free is a quandary though, as a working man with a small business, I have been debt free now for over 15 years, I feel it will help me get through any crisis ( except all out war in our part of the world), so will have a place to live and the ability to source supplies, I thought about this a few years ago, and felt when the shit hits the fan again (overdue) that the over arching result would be everything of value would drop by 50%, based on this assumption any debt would effectively put you in the street, the creditors would take it all, being debt free you still drop your net worth by 50% but at least technically it can't be taken away, unless it turns into Venezuela.

When the crap hits next time, and property values drop, will the towns and cities learn to live with less taxes? Definitely not, they will raise the taxes, to the point, where your home town might look like Detroit in 2000. Our town kept raising the size of a building lot to stop the town from overpopulating, and increasing the school population. I heard that they just dropped the minimum size home lot to encourage building. These new homes will come with children that are going to be in school for 12 years, at a minimum cost of $10,000 a year. How will the town pay for these children's education? The average home pays about $3500 - $4000 a year, and most have 2 or 3 children in the school system. About 85% of the taxes goes to supporting the schools now. If we have more homes, the school system which right now is at maximum capacity, will be swamped. The existing home values will plummet with higher taxes. Time to get out of Dodge!

They lost. Quit sending them checks and they'll get with it. We have ruined them.

That’s why it’s a good idea to own precious metals like gold and silver. Paper money may tank, but gold and silver has always held value.

Ever hear of a guy on the radio named Dave Ramsey? His thing is getting debt free and living that way as much as possible. He has a course he teaches and makes available called Financial Peace University. It's all legit, legal, and unarguable. He is much in favor of paying off house mortgages, credit cards, car loans, and any means of legal avoidance of taxes as possible. I bough our second home here in Glendora in 1983, and we paid it off within ten years, and have done several of those recommendations, and didn't do other things people do that get them in the hole, and we did all that before I ever heard of Dave Ramsey. It's fun to learn that you were right all along. A little bit of negative interest avoidance, early retirement of debt and such goes a long way.The thing to do ASAP after becoming debt free is to put all assets in a living trust with designated beneficiaries so nobody else can contest a will and have the courts suck it up or designate unwanted persons from being awarded any part of it. Also, a global financial collapse won't result in lenders calling back any loans, since you would have none outstanding. I have also always believed in being out from the control of anybody else and that my motto of "success is the best revenge" is right.

Phil and Dave,

I’ll have to pass on your “generous“ offers. What you don’t realize is how many pop/beer cans @ 5 cents you have to pickup out of the ditch to buy just one ounce of gold. Silver is a little easier on the wallet.

WOW! Makes me tired just thinking about those numbers. That’s a lot of bending over. Most I’ve ever made in a month was $320.00 from picking up cans. “Farmed” the same areas over and over. Of course the area I lived in at that time had more than its share of underage drinking. Those young drinkers just toss the dead cans out the window. Aluminum is valuable. Speaking of aluminum. Was thinking if someone would send me an aluminum car hood, I’d do very at the scrapyard. Volume - volume - volume. It would really help, as I’m retired and on a fixed income.
