I was at that auction to watch 2 stock "frame off restored" 1962 Chevy Impala SS 409/409 cars sell.
I saw that Bubble top (it sold for $ 115,000 )

One sold at this Mecum Indy 2013 Auction just like my blue 62 SS 409 Hardtop sold and a red/red 62 SS 409 convertible (like one I just finished late last year 2018(I did a red/red 62 SS 409 convertible(for a friend) and my Nassau blue 62 409 SS convertible

this is the nassau blue 62 SS Hardtop. It sold for $74,000 at Mecum Indy 2013 -it had 2 miles on the frame off restoration of a California 62 SS Hardtop

and this 62 SS 409/409 convertible with the original 62 409 motor -frame off restoration-- sold for $ 109,000 at Mecum Indy 2013

Both these 62 SS 409 cars were re- sold in 2017 at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale - for an example of no reserve auction ripoff by Barrett Jackson -sold by a dealer from Texas (Charlie Thomas Collection) who ended up with both 62 409 Mecum Indy auction cars from 2013

The Nassau blue 62 SS 409 from Mecum from 2013 (sold for $ 51,700 including 10 % for the sale to the buyer (actual total charges by Barrett Jackson are 20 % + of every sale -the plus is entry fee to the seller for entering the car to sell -10 % to the seller and 10 % to the buyer )

The red 62 SS 409/409 convertible from Mecum 2013(sold for $81,400 including 10 % )
https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1962-CHEVROLET-IMPALA-CONVERTIBLE-199539

this red/red 62 SS 409 convertible was owned for one year by a Classic Car dealer 15 miles from my house in Merrill, Iowa -He bought it for
$ 85,000 at Mecum Houston in late 2012 and sold it at Mecum Indy in 2013

I thought all some might like to see what happens to 409 cars from 2 auctions and losing money at no reserve Barrett Jackson Auctions.

Just took a peek at this section. If I read it correctly, someone lost a good piece of change. I wouldn't want to absorb that loss. Guess it's all part of big business, Carmine.
