I found some time on my hands and decided to check some possible routing on the inter-cooler lines. I'm thinking it might be easier to run them through the core support than to try and route them under the core support.

I think there's room to go through without interfering with anything like the battery box or the inner fender.

Is there any reason to not go through the core support?

Initially, I wasn't going to try and route them yet, but it became a bigger hassle to not run them than to run them.

The fewer the bends the shorter the distance between the components. This will mean fewer losses in system over all.Yes,I'd go through as opposed to around the core support.

Works for me!

Since the size of Procharger is good for 20 psi or so with 430 inches of displacement, I'm not concerned with it's capability vs. 10, maybe 12 psi wants. But it's easier to hold off cutting than it is to repair.

Since I want to run the rubber hose right off the cooler, I'm guessing it'll be good to cut the holes big enough to not chafe the hose.

I can't imagine that putting it in front of the radiator will be much problem.

Any other considerations to make once i figure a location?

I'm going to hold off mounting for now. I want to get the new radiator and transmission cooler in first. I think the transmission cooler is much larger than the generic one that had been put in previously.
I'll get those and the battery tray in place to be sure I don't have to cut more than once.

In the mean time, I'll work on a final location for the Procharger. Trying to locate where best to orient it has been an exercise in confusion.

Thanks Don and LA Hot Rods!

With the battery box in place, looks like the inter-cooler will need to be over the lower third or so of the radiator.
On the driver's side, is there anything that mounts on the core support?

Where I'm shooting for is a 3.5 t 3.75 inch diameter circle, centered on the top X. In the first three pics, i forgot to account for the height of the inter-cooler. 160121220735392561319826413879.jpg16012122419565097677961017981193.jpg16012124436794970066086499875159.jpg16012132214753493769618172980315.jpg

On the passenger side, I'm looking at a 3.5 to 3.75 inch circle centered around this X under the battery box.16012126554178140264146234198031.jpg

I can't see where I would have interference with anything. However, in the 1959 Shop Manual, I can't find a close up of the radiator support.
If anyone has a page I should reference or can post a pic of a 59 with the hood open looking down between the grill and the radiator, that would be a big help!
Thanks!

If I was in your shoes and had all the sheet metal it would be all bolted up to check all modifications and fitment.
Just as soon as I can clear some space and i can find the right set of boxes, thats what the plan is. Just trying to get a leg up on the plan.

My radiator came in and the good news is, they didn't ship a transmission cooler. What they sell is a 20" finned frame mount but with the exhaust hugging the frame, I'm not sure where I'd put it. So, I was thinking something like one of these:

to mount above or below the inner cooler.

Anyone have experience with a stacked plate style transmission cooler?

Those are the best type, only problem is if you have a transmission failure that puts any trash through the cooler, it is best to replace it. Not that that isn't a bad idea for any cooler that has seen transmission or engine failure.
