So what was the common ratio for the 60-66 C10 ?

I had a GMC with a V6 4 speed that came with 4.10 gears in a Dana 60 rear end.

I think that a basic 6 cyl.stick truck would have been in the 3.55-370 range..

If you really want to know do it the old way,pull the cover,count the teeth.It's maybe a 7 minute job.

Likely but by the time you scrape the rust/crud off to find it,you could have all ready found the answer by simply pulling the cover and looking at the teeth.G M stanps numbers about the ratio on the ring gear .Example 37-10.

It's not supposed to. It shows all the specs of how they were built.....what came standard and what was optional. The standard rear axle ratio was 3:73, you have to find the code on the axle or count it like Don says or count the number of revolutions of the tire to drive shaft.

Yeah was planning on pulling pan and doing that and driving it will have to wait awhile tires and brakes are a nessesity for me .It was just a general ??

Mine is a 373. You can jack it up and rotate the rear tires two complete turns and count the number of times that the drive shaft turns. that will tell you also.

I look at it this way.I'm spending all this time sweet blood and money building this vehicle and I'm not going to at least change that how many year old gear lube? Not bloody likely.

3.73 - 4.10 have a direct correlation to tire smoke. Just sayin

Typically 6 cylinder trucks were 3.73 and v8 auto trucks were 3.55.
