9" widths

OK guys, this is what I got.....

-------- 52 3/4" 60 T-Bird
58 1/2" 52 1/4" 77-81 Lincoln/Versailles
59 1/4" - 61 1/4" --------- 67-73 Torino, Ranchero,
Fairlane, Mustang
58" 52 1/4" 75-80 Granada, Monarch

-------- 59 3/4" 73-79 Ford Pickup
68" --------- 72 3/4 Ton Van
65 1/4" --------- 73-86 3/4 Ton Van

Axle Flange measurements is from the end of one axle flange to the other axle flange.

Inside Housing Flange measurement is from the inside edge of the flange o n the end of the housing (where the brake backing plate bolts to) to the inside of the other housing flange.

Thats all I got, I know there are a few that aren't in there, and the ----- are the ones I don't know. I hope this helps anyone looking for a 9" housing.
Oh and one last thing to remember, some 9" housings have both axles the same length, this puts the pinion off set to the passenger side, where some have one axle longer than the other which puts the pinion in the center of the car. I ran into this problem on my car, the rear end was the right width but the pinion was off to the pass side.

Great chart, need the same for the front!

Found this while trying to figure out what to use in upgrading the '59 El Camino front suspension.

So far looks like pre-88 C4 Vette, which appears to be 62" wide.

I think I can cover the one inch per side difference with the wheel offset. :deal

Someone may correct me, but as I recall 1959 was the first year for the "Wide Track" Pontiac. I believe the width, outside axle flange to outside axle flange, is 64 inches. But it's been so long I can't be certain. Jeremy

What is the width of a 1959 pontiac rear end? Is a pontiac center section as olds rear ends of that era?

The Olds and Pontiac both used the same center section. The correct width for 59' & 60' is 63-1/4" I believe. I just measured my 60' Pontiac and it is the same as my 62' Pontiac. I am using a 62' Olds rear in my 61' Bel Air and it is 1" wider that the stock Bel Air rear. Although when I had the brackets welded on the housing the flanges on the end had to come off to straighten the rear so we cut 1/2" out on each end and machined 1/4" off the ends of the axles so now I am stock width of the Bel Air rear.

Jeremy, You are correct in that 59' was the first year for the wide track. Then in 61' Pontiac went back to the narrow rear and then back to the wide track in 62'...:crazy
