Deb and I just got back from a little 1,977 mile jog around the country. We left here Sunday morning and went to Waterloo Wi. and spent the night with friends we were stationed with in Germany. Monday we went to Green Bay and Oshkosh with a stop at the EAA museum. We spent the night in Escanaba Mi. and headed out across the UP Tuesday. We stopped at 5 or 6 lighthouses and fort Michimilimackinac at the Mackinac bridge. Yesterday, we went to South Bend and visited the Studebaker museum. Today we just drove from Effingham Il. home. It was a long trip but we had a good time.

I forgot, the adventure actually started the Saturday before, when I went to Blytheville Ar. to see the guys run at the Arkansas 1 mile challenge. Only got to see a couple go over 200 and they were both Roush race cars.
Escanaba is about two hours from me. Shoulda stopped in.
I knew that we'd probably travel near some of you guys.

Looks like I'm going on the road again next week. Tuesday I drive to Jasper to meet with the driveline division managers from the other 3 plants and our boss to plan 2020. Wednesday I fly out of Louisville to Las Vegas for the Automatic transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) trade show, then back to Louisville and Jasper for the weekend. The next Tuesday, I fly on our corporate plane to Chicago for the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) show. Then finally back to Jasper on Friday and drive home. The ATRA show is in Caesars Palace so it should be fun. This may be hard for some of you to believe but in the late 70's I was thrown out of almost every casino in Las Vegas; I'm much better now.

Looks like you're doing well at work Mearl.:good
Thanks Dave, I'm doing what I like best which is managing people in an automotive related business. I have a couple of big projects coming up; we're taking on the building of GM 4L60E's and should be producing 15 a day by the end of January. We'll start out with 8 stock numbers for 1999- 2014 4 wheel drive and then pick up the rest by the end of the year going to 40 per day. Right now, we build 40-45 total per day so we'll double production. I've hired 8 people in the last few weeks and will be looking for another 10-12. We're also getting a new 35,000 square foot warehouse for cores due to my increased production and the gas side is going to start building Dodge Hemi's. I'm pretty excited about it all!

very interesting reading Mearl. Do you do any high performance speciality transmissions for 1,000 HP +/- applications?

So I made it home yesterday after being gone 10 days. Now we're leaving this morning to go to Belleville Il. for a swap meet tomorrow. The last couple of years it's been on the second day of deer season which made it a tough choice, go try to buy car parts or kill something.
Monday will be back to fighting all the fires that broke out while I was gone, good thing I got all the latest LEAN training in Chicago!!
