It’s going to be stroked, icon forged 10.8-1 BB 6.385 rods, 409 crank.

Kevin the 10.8 with the double notch will come in at 9-9.5 somewhere. I took .3 off the decks so that will help a bit.

If you had exhaust you could almost pull the small block and bolt in the 348, I did that in my 59, swapped the 283 for the 409. It all bolted up.

I ordered the header package where I can make my own. I looked at the ram horns on the 327 I have and looked at the 65 409 manifolds picture and the “sweep” to the back on the drivers side Is very similar. Passenger side just dumps in the Center. I can make headers easy enough. Because it’s a small block in it now there are a parts I’ll carry over. May have to make some brackets on the front but motor mounts etc can work

I’m at the timing gear install. Before I press the crank gear on I want to make sure I don't have to install it advanced or retarded. I’m assuming that’s for racing high performance but not sure. Attached the pics of the cam card gear and paper that came with the gear set. need The experts help here!

Your picture shows the position that you want..If you degree that cam,you'll find that it's already ground with 4 degrees advance ground in it.You don't really want more.

Thanks Don, I read about the 4 degrees on that cam but wasn’t sure if it already was like you said or had to compensate with the gear. Once again the teacher has spoken!

How do you clean out underneath the tray? There’s a bunch of sludge in there and is very restricted to access

I can do that here. I have a really big lobster pot I’ll boil it then hot water pressure wash it.

it’s an old pot I never threw out. Kept it in case I needed a piece of aluminum.

ive done it with other things. Water and vinegar. Bring it to a boil and whatever grease and oil is there goes away.
