Hello all, new member here, hope this is the right spot?! I acquired a 1966 chevy c80 2 1/2 ton grain truck last fall( i think it was a semi tractor in another life) and it's time to get er back in action! Here r a couple pics. Have a leaking wheel cylinder so will be asking you all for some advice.
Thanks!!

Sorry fir the delay in response, phone died just after I posted lol! It has the 366 ci high torque engine. From my reserch 66 was the first year for that engine.....

Around 220hp and 345 ft-lbs torque (per old advertisement i found). It has a straight 5 speed transmission. Not split hi/low. Runs great, small exhaust leak on manifold which is on list to fix. But mainly need to get brakes dialed in. So we can get her back in action.

That 366, if original, has a gear to gear camshaft drive, no idler, and yes the cam turns backward. Therefore distributor/oil pump drive gear is cut differently as they turn the normal clockwise direction. The distributor drive gear is also special.

Thanks for the info. It's been very hard to find any thing on these bigger trucks....
Lots of info out there for the c50/ c60 but not for the medium/heavy c70/c80...

Was able to find this old advertisement which is how I learned about the low cab forward design. Can't seem to upload it will try in morning....

Had a 1961 Chevy tandem dump truck. 348 wore out and it was overhauled by yours truly when I was around 19. Many years later it blew up and we stuck a 366 in it.

What I love about this is it has a step on the lower fender to access the engine compartment. Just haven't seen that before. I will stop posting on this welcome page so as not to clutter it up.
Any suggestions as to where to post questions and pics would be appreciated!

I’m sure Bob won’t mind if you post under 58-65 truck heading.
